Um, can you put today's food system into historical perspective and explain how extraordinary it is that the world no longer lives with recurring famine?
24:34
famine?Yeah, uh, I can.
24:37
I think it's extraordinary, um, uh, because it's, because of some of, some of the extraordinary things I'm gonna try and describe, but also extraordinary because we just don't seem to think about it that much.
24:46
We just kind of accept that that's the way it is, and we won't have to worry about what we're having for, for dinner tomorrow.
24:53
Or, or certainly the vast majority of us o- on the planet actually will not have to worry about that.
24:58
U- u- and, you know, that's not been the case for the majority of human history.
25:03
Um, I think we can look back through our food system, um, through, you know, every decade that, that where, where decent records exist, many people have died, um, due to famine per decade.

So y- you're looking ahead, what gives you the most confidence that we really can feed 10 billion people well, and, and what do you think is the biggest obstacle we have to overcome?
