And that's a lot of campaign money to be spent and a lot of runway yet to go.
3:58
Yeah, and there is a lot of money being spent.
4:00
Ohio is home to one of the most competitive U.S. Senate races in the nation, and it also turns out to be the most expensive.
4:09
So Senator John Husted, who was appointed to fill the Senate seat from J.D. Vance when he became vice president, is now running to finish those two years of what's left on that term, and he's facing former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown and a lot of issues that have been coming up, getting a lot of attention in this race.
4:31
One of the biggest is data centers.
4:32
What's going on with the whole data center fight in the Senate race?
5:37
I know that Texas Governor Greg Abbott is trying to distance himself from, you know, championing AI and data centers, etc.
5:45
Another issue that's really popping up big in the Senate race that we're seeing a lot on a lot of the advertising is immigration policies.
2:48
And then where did Ohio fall in terms of reopening things? I feel like just from what I've heard and read that you guys didn't reopen like too, too late at least compared to some other States that.
3:04
Yeah.
3:04
I mean, Ohio opened earlier than, than other, some other States.
3:08
Um, Ohio had a lower COVID death rate, uh, in 2020 compared to the national average, you know, the very first big event that was canceled in Ohio that made a lot of news was the Arnold classic, uh, the big bodybuilding, uh, event that takes place in Columbus every year.
3:23
And Ohio was also the first state to close K through 12, uh, So Ohio got a lot of attention at the very beginning of COVID for taking those actions early.
3:33
Supporters of Amy Acton and her campaign will say that those moves saved lives during the pandemic.
3:41
And those who are against her will say that, you know, those moves and the prolonged lockdowns cost kids, you know, in school and impacted businesses in Ohio.
4:10
You know, I don't know if these ads were necessarily changing hearts and
2:53
And you really see Brown talking a lot more about that and less about like, foreign policy strategy or what this means on a global scale.
3:03
Right.
3:03
I mean, early voting starts in about six weeks.
3:06
And, you know, people often vote by how they're feeling with their family budget, their pocketbook and high gas prices is a huge issue that families are dealing with.
3:16
So I think what we're seeing are Democrats are going after Republicans for high gas prices and affordability and data centers and topics like that, which has been big in the Senate race, too, while Republicans Republicans are going after Democrats on immigration and crime and all the kind of socialist talk and stuff like that.
3:36
And that seems to be the way both sides are going this year.
7:23
What did we learn today?
7:25
Well, I mean, this is interesting.
