Shakespeare's always interested in the language of leadership and it's a concern that he revisits right at the very start of Othello, doesn't he?

Anthony AlmeidaGUEST
Yeah, there's that first scene where kind of Othello's just talking to his friend about getting married.

Anthony AlmeidaGUEST
And then dad comes in and dad goes, why have you married her? You shouldn't have married her.
Samira AhmedHOST
What appealed to you about that song and the way that you presented it in the production? Because it's sung by the women, isn't it, Desdemona and Amelia? Yeah.

David ChaddertonHOST
So it's that use of jealousy that's still in contemporary politics, isn't it?

Anthony AlmeidaGUEST
It's really interesting if you want to get geeky about this, because, and again, this is, I think, why we misunderstand a lot of these plays, because we sometimes try and put modern politics on it in a simple way.

Anthony AlmeidaGUEST
But like, what's fascinating about jealousy is it comes from the word jealousia, which actually means to be aware, to be alert.
