Alberta Voted for.... What Exactly?

And so, Annie, can you expand a little bit on what you saw throughout the campaign on these immigrant questions and how people were interpreting them and maybe misinterpreting them or hoping that they would result in some certain outcome?
A

So unfortunately, what this has done is actually even created division within the communities where some people are thinking, well, I'm a more deserving immigrant than you are because I've paid my dues, I've been here longer, I've done this, I've done that.
A

So it really has, this is kind of what we've learned in AAPI, which is, model minority.
A
21:34Annie WongGUEST
The reason why the model minority was developed was to single out, you know, who is the the model, the best immigrant.
A

And we should all be modeling ourselves after that person, that group, that community.
A
21:53Annie WongGUEST
Because once they can start dividing all of our groups into intersections, and then they're dividing the groups within the groups and kind of building on that, they've won, right? The whole idea of unity, it's not unity.
A
22:14Annie WongGUEST
The unity is the unity that they're defining and they're choosing, right? And so that's the thing is right now, when we were talking to a lot of our groups, we had to kind of help them unlearn those kind of those kind of things that they felt that because somebody has taught them somebody the messaging has been you've always put your head down you've always worked hard you've always you know you you're you worked hard you made money you got an education and now you're sitting at like this this level and you're doing very well And everybody else should be following and mimicking that because you've done well, they haven't, or we need them to aspire to be the model minority.
