They just need to keep listening.
34:09
Yeah, I 100% agree with you, Richard.
34:12
You know, this morning I've got a book review out of Barney Frank's posthumous new book.
34:18
Yeah.
34:19
His book is titled The Hard Path to Unity.
34:22
And it's a provocative title because the rest of it is, you know, why we need to reform the left to rescue democracy.
34:28
Something like that.
37:57
Talk a little bit about your article that you wrote last week.
53:57
We've got the money to fight any of the leg- any of the suits that come our way." W- talk a little bit about your observations about that, but also the broader part of your book.
54:08
Yeah.
54:09
So you're absolutely right, Richard.
54:11
I mean, corporations are taking advantage of, uh, opportunities where they can to go into the most vulnerable communities.
54:18
And you know, my book is about how they're especially doing that, uh, by exploiting government programs that are intended to help these very communities, right? And, uh, we can talk about this, but it's gotten a lot worse under the Trump administration because, you know, this president has done his best to monetize the presidency in every way, but he's also provided plenty of opportunities for companies to do the same thing.
54:41
You know, I give an example here of ICE detention centers.
54:45
You know, detention centers are entirely run by- Mostly run by a couple companies, one being the GEO Group.
55:43
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you.
52:17
How do you deal with that?
52:19
Wow.
52:20
That is so hard, you know, because I...
52:24
Being on the outside, none of us are on the inside.
52:27
We can't do anything.
52:29
And so many people have left the administration as lawyers because they've been disgusted by what's going on.
52:35
The Department of Justice, when I was in law school, going to work for DOJ was one of the most prestigious jobs that you could get.

But what's the you said, the depth, what's what's the substance, what's underneath it? What does it mean specifically to people that, you know, are going to be the benefactors of it? i know that's not what that's not a point of our conversation but i get what you're saying in terms of so much information let's let's peel away and get down to what is going to matter to the people that are going to actually be voting for these things so thank you for saying that um you wrote a a recent article that um is a concern i think that hasn't been talked about a lot and the title of the article is gen z has an anti-semitism problem What caused you to write that? And what's the meaning behind this article that you just wrote?
12:19
Can you tell us anything that people are saying privately to one another and to you that they maybe won't say publicly? You can do it without attribution.
12:30
That's a really good question.
12:31
I think one thing I would bring up is that the larger coalition is actually larger than the names that are on this book.
12:41
And one of the consequences of the Trump administration is a chilling effect, a fear, People don't say in public what they say in private.
12:54
And there is a lot of apprehension, actually, about going forward with this book publicly.
13:01
Because some of the names, if you go through some of the names, there are some fairly prominent folks who, in some cases, are stepping forward for the first time in a while.
13:10
And everyone I think involved is cognizant of the potential risks.

No, go ahead.
