So long story short, this is from the Times of London, his foundation, the King's Foundation, has been paying Camilla's sister, Annabel Elliot, for branding and retail work, which is purposefully vague.

Could mean anything, yeah.

And is sort of the update to when he was running the Duchy of Cornwall and had Annabel on that payroll.

Anyway, there was some kerfuffle because Charles hadn't actually disclosed that his sister-in-law is on the payroll, and when the accounts were being gone over publicly, this came to light, and it has merited notice.

Yeah, I think what happened is that he had disclosed it at the Duchy, so William knew to, like, get rid of that position and all other hangers on.

Not everyone was charmed by the household's approach to money.

Tom Sykes reported that Camilla's sister, Annabel Elliot, is now being paid by the king's charitable foundation for branding consultancy.

After William pointedly removed her from the Duchy of Cornwall payroll, the king, Sykes wrote, operating on his lifelong principle of doing what he likes and treating inconvenient safeguards as impertinences.

In "The Royalist", Tom Sykes took a shot at His Majesty writing, "Annabel Elliot, Queen Camilla's youngest sister, is reportedly being paid by the King's Foundation, His Majesty's flagship charity, for branding and retail consultancy according to British newspaper the Sunday Times.

The exact amount is unknown, but the role has come about after Prince William, upon taking over the Duchy of Cornwall on his father's accession, promptly removed Elliot from its payroll, where she had collected hundreds of thousands of pounds over two decades advising Charles on interiors.

The issue isn't Elliot's ability, but the arrogance of how King Charles appears to have disregarded ethical norms in getting his sister-in-law remunerated by a charity without any apparent oversight.

I think we can deduce quite clearly that the piece was actually built from two sets of annual accounts.

The first set was the Duchy of Cornwalls, which for about 20 years listed its payments to Annabel Elliot, the Queen's sister, in the related party transaction section.

That's important.

The related party transactions.

So he has always kind of been in this role of like straddling both sides of the family conflict

because he was married to Lady Jane Spencer, Diana's older sister.

He married her in 1978.

So he's Diana's brother-in-law and the maternal uncle to both William and Harry.

This is a more complicated fellow, fellows, than I anticipated.

I'm also thinking about, from Diana's perspective, too, how complicated that might have been when her marriage is falling apart.

And I don't know how close she was with Jane, but you can't even really talk to your sister because you don't know what information is going to go to fellows who has the queen's ear.

I don't know.

She recalls that when Camilla married Charles in 2005, she was so worried about the public reaction that she initially did not want to get out of bed on the morning of the wedding.
