So this is, uh, my illustrious panel here, and, um, we will first give the floor to Anna to introduce us to the book and some of her main points.

Thank you very much, Hagen, for organizing, um, this, this panel and, and, and podcast, and also thanks very much for everyone who took the time to, to read and, and, and make up their, um, their minds.

So I feel very honored to present some of the, of the main parts as a start.

Um, and so just to give you an overall sense, the book is about the interweaving of authoritarian practices and neoliberal techniques.

And, um, what I found and what I show in the book is intri- intriguing about this style of government, um, that I call flexible authoritarianism, is that the state employs entrepreneurial incentives, um, to legitimate authoritarian rule.

Yet in the book I'm not only interested in, in these state strategies but also how they resonate.
