Is there anything families can do to confirm the pickup or drop-off time or maybe figure out where the bus is?

The first thing I recommend families do once they know a route's been assigned is contact the bus company and ask for the pickup time.

Before the start of the school year, the bus driver should have driven the route and figured out, okay, what time will we get to Anna's house? What time will we get to Isabella's house? So that when you call dispatch, they're able to say, yep, they should arrive around...

this time.

It is an estimate for sure.

And it might change in the first few weeks of the school year as routes are figured out and finalized.

I think your other question was how to figure out where the bus is, right? So maybe you are at home waiting for your student to arrive at the end of the day.
