Timothy AppelHOST
As we get started today, Pastor, remind us of the context as we begin Matthew 17 today.

Andy WrightGUEST
Matthew 17 comes after some pretty interesting stuff in the previous chapter in Matthew 16, which is one of my favorite sections of Matthew's gospel.

Andy WrightGUEST
There's a lot of stuff that happens, and I don't want to, you know, recapitulate everything, you know, that talked about in a previous episode, but just kind of as we look at just kind of the broad overview as Jesus, specifically starting in verse 13 of chapter 16, we have that great dialogue back and forth between Jesus and Peter, and Peter makes that great confession that he is the Christ, the Son of the living God, that's who Jesus is, and that flesh and blood has not revealed this to him, Jesus tells Peter, but his Father who is in heaven.

Andy WrightGUEST
And then we have that great confession of Peter as being the rock, And on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Is one of the problems here that the cameras are outside in the real world? They're not operating, the cameras and the boom mics are not operating on a soundstage.

Andy WrightGUEST
Yes, that is also something that adds a lot of location noise to the recordings.

Andy WrightGUEST
There's definitely more productions being shot on location than they are being shot in sound stages or film studios.

Andy WrightGUEST
And now as sound editors and sound mixers, we can obviously control some of that environment through things like ADR recording, which is getting the actors back into a soundproof room and re-recording their voices in sync with their mouths, or through certain amounts of noise reduction.

Andy WrightGUEST
But both of those things have their separate challenges because sometimes the directors don't choose to go with the ADR because they're more attached to the natural performance from the location.

Andy WrightGUEST
And sometimes with the noise reduction, if it's used incorrectly, it can actually work against the clarity, even though it gets rid of the background noise.

David MarrHOST
So I assume that these standards are used and, you know, we're not using sound stages and all of this is about money.

So I s- assume that these standards are used and, you know, we're not using sound stages and all of this is about money.

Andy WrightGUEST
There, there is definitely a, a, a, a wide, uh, a, a wide divide between, uh, some productions that have more money or less money.

And then ideally you're gonna hate that

Andy WrightGUEST
However, if there is a payoff, you've held the retention and retention time is the thing that creates the organic spread.

Andy WrightGUEST
So, After listening to that, videos that go far organically only have one thing and that is retention.

No, they won't say it won't drive value, but there will be certain people that will be thinking very heavily about conversion, right?
