And it feels like if you're truly that unhappy and this feels that miserable, maybe that time to think about, yeah, maybe this particular role isn't for me.
5:24
And that's not failure.
5:24
You know what I mean? There are some practice groups that are like, we are going to run the leanest ship possible.
5:33
I'll tell you this, Maria.
5:34
So I was talking to somebody earlier today and this person had worked with a practice group and he said he was an executive up with this group.
5:44
and he said it just became clear to me that the ceo he wanted to follow the disney model and i know you're a huge disney fan but he was a ceo of a practice group and his idea was we're going to ratchet the price up and we're just going to serve less people and so we're going to have fewer clients And we're going to charge them more.
6:03
And that's how we're going to be available and convenient.

15:24
that? Yeah,
10:34
Yeah.
10:34
Yeah.
10:35
Yeah.
10:36
You know, I was thinking about this.
10:38
So I saw your article.
10:40
And I remember when I was 18 years old, I got a job working commercial construction.
10:46
And so I was this high school kid.

Please explain.

... people are hesitant, and they're afraid to, you know, like-
10:53
Well, the question is, "Why?" Like, like, what are you trying to do? If you say, "I have, um..." I, so I'll tell you.
10:59
So, so I run The Cone of Shame, and one of the key drivers in The Cone of Shame was I like people.
11:04
I like fascinating people like the people here.
11:06
Everyone here has been on my podcast.
11:08
Um, and that podcast gave me a reason to reach out to Phil, to Susan, and say, "Can I, can, can I, would you make an hour on your schedule for me?"

Mm.
19:54
And then I would go ahead and try to start a grassroots movement of sending them, like, and if I, I... making a vet podcast.
15:36
And so it really comes down to communication, right? And so when we're talking about communication as a whole, when we say we shouldn't be involved with pet owner finances, but then you say that we should be still communicating and educating with them, and still communicating with them about what payment options we do have, isn't that sort of being involved in their finances? And if so, how would you navigate that situation with that individual in the clinic that was making that judgment? How would you talk to that person?
16:04
Okay, so I think this is a great story.
16:07
I think it really illustrates my point.
16:10
I guess the point behind when I say we shouldn't be all involved in their finances is, I think you should decide how you're going to treat people.
16:18
I think you should understand what your values are in your clinic and how do you treat people and how do you behave and how do you support pet owners? And then I think that you gave those people the time that they needed.
16:28
And you clearly were not there doing the math and going, is this person going to pay for this or that? You said, no, a pet owner is asking questions and they need support.
16:37
And this is what we do.

Ours is just $100 cheaper because we're trying to take your money when obviously that's not the case.
