um let's go let's go and i said we'd talk a bit about values and um i think your the values you espouse are shining through and i just want to kind of delve into them a little bit um you describe yourself as coming from an ordinary family in kettering how much did your upbringing shape your the leadership the leader you've become and your leadership uh skills and and your experiences you know how much of that is down to your your formative years it's a really good question
12:06
and i think I mean, the Navy has cornered that great phrase, born in somewhere, made in the Navy.
12:14
So for me, born in Kettering, but made in the Royal Navy.
12:18
Absolutely, 100%, that applies to me.
12:21
I am, by and large, what I am because of what I've learned in the Navy.
12:26
But having said that, I think my core values and what I espouse as a person, let alone as a naval officer, um were built around the upbringing i did have and yeah i mean it was a very as you say a very ordinary um upbringing in the east midlands in a small market town kettering um which you know very few people have heard of the property in the sign on the m4 on the m1 or the a14 and might have heard of the fact that gaza was kettering town's manager for about six days before he got sacked other than that not many people have heard of kettering um But, you know, my parents got married ridiculously young.
13:12
That was nothing new in the mid-60s.

But what other opportunities do you think kind of really come to the fore of your mind?
