How does being authentic help you to excel in the chosen career path you've done as an advisor to small business owners?
6:15
That's great.
6:16
I spent a lot of my time, Marcus, in my professional life really not being authentic.
6:22
I started the first 10 years of my professional life, I was a corporate lawyer.
6:27
So I was working in big law firms, advising business owners.
6:34
what I learned was that I really enjoyed what the businesses were doing.
6:41
I really enjoyed learning about business and entrepreneurship more so than I enjoyed being part of a law firm and being part of a law firm culture.
11:44
What do you think is the biggest challenge that small business owners face in trying to break through that half million to $5 million range to get to the medium-sized businesses? But what you and I both know, unfortunately, right, Andy, most small businesses don't make it.
8:57
Do I got to change my whole business or I've heard of, or I tried this other thing and it didn't work.
9:03
So I tell everybody, quite frankly, having an operating system like EOS, like whole pie, great game of business.
9:10
There are others.
9:11
Having one is more important than the one you choose, right? So unless if you are already using a system, Mr.
9:19
and Mrs.
9:19
Business owner, if you're listening, if it's working for you, great.
9:23
If it's working for you, great.
12:44
Talk through the enjoyment piece a little bit about kind of revitalizing that or maybe measuring or what do you do in that piece of the pie?
1:46
Tell us, you know, how did you get started?
1:50
Yeah, I got started, uh... my professional career started, Seth, as a, as a corporate lawyer, um, working with business owners for about a dozen years.
1:58
And, um, uh, and most of those business owners were, you know, where I was from in Atlantic Canada.
2:05
I don't know if you know where that is.
2:06
It's kinda...
2:08
I, I lived an hour from the main border in a province called New Brunswick.
2:11
It's kinda between Quebec and Nova Scotia.

11:58
Can you tease us a little bit?
14:19
So what's the solution to that?
14:21
The whole PI system, when you implement it into your business, it's a very step-by-step structured approach.
14:28
And like I say, there's, you know, if we want to get into kind of the bells and whistles of it, there's, there's, there's kind of two key components of the system.
14:36
There's first is the foundation where we talk about purpose.
14:39
We do your planning.
14:40
We, we get, you know, your people in the right seats, that kind of Jim Collins type stuff.
14:45
And then we look at your processes and optimize processes.

5 MINS LATER

19:51
know what those metrics should be? Is it just obvious or does it sometimes take someone like you to point them out what they need to be?
