great so where did the idea come from like why did you start it
3:20
We're the same founder group, or three of us were the same founder group at Flick Electric, which was an energy retailer we started 14 years ago and we were lucky enough to sell.
3:30
At that time, we identified there were some issues around capacity and load control and load management, particularly on the fringes, which is where farmers and growers and some of that big commercial industrial stuff operates.
3:42
And that kind of gave us a bit of an idea about, well, instead of upgrading infrastructure, why wouldn't you look at controlling and balancing and orchestrating the load? And then we realised that by doing that, you could actually give the customer financial return and financial benefit.
3:58
So it's one of those really weird win-win-win things.
4:00
And we thought we had an idea how to build the tool.
4:03
And so it took us probably a good four and a half, five years of R&D.
7:25
oh
1:34
What sort of types of conversations were you having with people?
1:39
I guess we really did progress.
1:41
So last year we were talking about this new thing and what we wanted to do.
1:45
And this year it was a real marked difference with we've done a thing.
1:49
And in two bits, one, there were those customers.
1:52
And I think the rural community is still really stuck about starting.
1:56
Everyone we spoke to, I've been looking at this for a year.
5:44
What were some of the concerns that people raised with you?
10:11
You know, what if you want it to be distributed in multiple areas? Is that easy enough to do or what's the story there?
10:18
Yeah, there's some restrictions with that.
10:20
Like people's favourite thing at the moment, there seems to be this new thing around power sharing.
10:26
It's pretty hard to share power unless there's a line between A and B, right? Connectivity, it's physical connection.
10:32
It's not a Wi-Fi that you can kind of send through the airways.
10:36
There are a number of things that can be done and exporting off a single system back into the grid probably makes just as much financial sense as power sharing within.
10:46
If you're looking for an accounting process, that can be done and we're working on that with a couple of retailers.
14:08
I mean, do you see the uptake becoming even greater and to the point where it's just ubiquitous?
30:13
The look on your face there and the
30:15
way.
30:16
Yeah.
30:18
I would have been lying if I'd told anyone that we would do what we've done.
30:23
You know, it's been busier than I thought.
30:26
We've probably had triple the amount of leads that we anticipated.
30:29
We sort of thought that we might get sort of 250 to 300 solid leads in the year.

I mean, do you see the uptake becoming even greater and to the point where it's just ubiquitous?
