5:27
Andrew, what do you say?
5:28
The only way oil's gonna permanently come down is just by ending this ridiculous war in Iran.
5:33
So yes, uh, the, the oil markets are driven by day by day headlines.
5:37
You know, one day there's gonna be a, a peace deal, and then the next day there's not a peace deal.
5:41
And then, you know, this, this, this up and down in oil markets bleeds into everything else.
5:46
US stocks particularly, uh, US Treasury yields.
5:49
But with, with oil markets, if you wanna go back down to those ancient times of $67 a barrel, then, you know, the, the situation in the Middle East is the only way you're gonna, uh, uh, once again achieve that.

6 MINS LATER

12:03
A- Andrew, economically, fiscally, this is not unusual, is it? [laughs]
30:45
Andrew, why the giggles?
30:48
In August, and you should have had me on your show at the time to talk about this because it's really fascinating.
30:52
But anyway, in August, Scott Besant, he declared out of nowhere that the Treasury is going to expand its debt buybacks to calm markets and to ensure they go back to equilibrium.
31:05
And they trade on fundamentals.
31:06
Now, a lot of people always ask me, what the heck are even debt buybacks? Why is that so interesting? So a debt buyback is when the trading department repurchases government bonds.
31:17
So in this case, the government is repurchasing long-term bonds, 20 and 30 years.
31:22
And the reason why they do that is so they can apply pressure on those yields, on those long ends.
34:21
And yes, it's a drop in the bucket, but it's a good political message, isn't it?
