Yeah, no, I mean, this is big business, is it not? Voter data and voter mining data, that is big business, is it not?
27:08
It very much is.
27:10
And it really, we're looking at, you know, you have in this upcoming election, control of Congress is coming up, several state legislatures.
27:19
You have local races that matter all across the country.
27:23
So it's big business, but it's also big power.
27:26
And, you know, and really the power should be in the people's hands and is in the people's hands.
27:33
And that's why we have to focus on getting through the process.
30:07
And that's what you get when the federal government is in charge of your voting election data.
130:10
You know, I mean, how do you deal with that issue? You know, these are depression on campuses.
130:16
These are shenanigans that have been happening for a long time.
130:18
A lot of these tactics aren't new.
130:20
When I was in college my freshman year, we all voted because there was a polling place right there on campus.
130:25
And then the town that we were in decided too many students voted, so they moved the polling location clear across the city.
130:33
Freshmen and sophomores at that school weren't allowed to have cars.
130:37
There wasn't mass transit.
135:07
Is your organization involved in a lot of litigation around voting? Yeah.
4:46
Talk to me about ensuring safe elections and what does that mean? And what are your concerns in this election cycle?
4:54
Well, I think first we have to realize out here that there are two types of people.
4:58
There are the majority of Americans who want to see free and fair elections, who want to have their voice heard at the ballot box, and who believe in a healthy and thriving democracy.
5:09
And then there is a different type of person who believes in some... other style of government.
5:14
And that's what we're really talking about, a more authoritarian take, where no matter what side of the aisle you're on, if you're the average American, you wouldn't have your voice heard.
5:23
And I think that that is truly what's at stake now and in the future.
5:28
And my concerns for this election, of course, I'm concerned about voter intimidation, seeing that the interactions today on the Hill is nerve-wracking and concerning.
7:38
But what are those who are tuning into your website saying to you about this election season?
30:51
What are you noticing as far as registration is going?
30:54
So at Vote.org, we saw a really early this year spike in registrations, early in the election cycle, where people really wanted to have their voice heard and were registering in record numbers.
31:05
A disproportionate number of those people are 18 this year.
31:08
So that's really exciting for us.
31:10
We know we're onboarding the next generation.
31:13
And I think that What I'm really noticing and have noticed election cycle after election cycle is these tactics are not fully new.
31:21
People have been trying to wash voters out of the election cycle for many years, generations past ours as well.

5 MINS LATER

36:52
And I think that that really scares the hell out of them.
