Amy Phillips

Comedian

Oct 14, 2026

4:15
So Amy, where should we start?
4:17
Well, you know, as I was watching Season 4, I, I wanted to mention before we get into Taylor and Dakota, which I think is gonna be one of our first stops on the tour, I wanted to just kind of open up the, the conversation about what we learned about Taylor in Season 4 and what we learned about her mom.
4:36
So we know that she was, you know, wanting to connect somehow with her biological father.
4:41
That's not an option because he had passed away, so she wanted to go to Colorado before she goes on The Bachelorette in order to see if she can speak with any of her two, as she knows she has two siblings, speak to them or speak to anyone that was in his life.
4:56
So Taylor and her mom, Leanne, went back to Colorado, and the only person that was willing to talk to them on camera was her biological father's best friend.
5:06
Leanne had actually previously dated him when she was very young before she dated Taylor's biological father.

18 MINS LATER

23:30
[upbeat music]
23:34
Hey, can we talk about desire for a minute? Because I feel like nobody tells you that at a certain point in life, getting in the mood sometimes requires your brain to first shut down approximately 47 other tabs.
5:28
So Amy, where should we start?
5:30
Well, you know, as I was watching Season 4, I, I wanted to mention before we get into Taylor and Dakota, which I think is gonna be one of our first stops on the tour, I wanted to just kind of open up the, the conversation about what we learned about Taylor in Season 4 and what we learned about her mom.
5:48
So we know that she was, you know, wanting to connect somehow with her biological father.
5:54
That's not an option because he had passed away, so she wanted to go to Colorado before she goes on The Bachelorette.
6:00
In order to see if she can speak with any of her two, as she knows she has two siblings, speak to them or speak to anyone that was in his life.
6:08
So Taylor and her mom, Leigh-Anne, went back to Colorado, and the only person that was willing to talk to them on camera was her biological father's best friend.
6:19
Leigh-Anne had actually previously dated him when she was very young before she dated Taylor's biological father.
10:26
So Taylor, you know, we're gonna talk about her accountability and, and her role and things like that, but I just think that she's a very wounded person, and these are the seeds that were planted to sprout these kind of behaviors later, if that makes sense.
22:19
[laughs]
22:21
"... um, Michaela's our girl, and we know we really want her to be treated the best way possible," and I do- I don't even know how she said it, but to just say that directly to him blew my mind.
22:35
And was it emasculating? Maybe.
22:39
Was it a little hum- was it humiliating to do on camera? Sure.
22:44
But necessary, important, and, um, fuck him.
22:50
Because, like-

7 MINS LATER

29:40
I know.
29:40
But, um, she was dancing around that, and she wanted to do it, and I'm so glad she didn't.
26:11
[laughs]
26:11
But she, like, Sonja not being there is so rough because, you know, I know that Luann and somebody else, oh yeah, Dorinda, were like, "Oh, she...
26:23
You know, we don't really keep in touch," but...
26:27
And she's not a good friend.
26:28
She's like, Luann's like, "I try to get her to, you know, answer me," and she goes off into her, her own world.
26:33
And she says she doesn't show up unless it's, like, five grand.
26:36
And I'm like, you mean to tell me they weren't even gonna pay her five grand to show up for this?

Prime Time, in theaters across Canada September 25th.
7:44
Did you know that you and I have known each other for, like, 11 years or 12 years? It's nuts.
7:50
You know, it's so cool because I remember when I first did your podcast, and you guys were probably one of the first people to ever do it, and not only were you filming it.
8:04
Like, that's how ahead of the curve you were.
8:06
But I remember going to a studio somewhere, like, maybe in Culver City, and we were at a long table, microphones in front of us facing out, camera in front of us, and we were all, like, three of us next to each other in a row.

35 MINS LATER

43:50
... a big thing.
43:50
This was big, seeing Jacqueline and Melissa and Teresa in the same spot for the first time.
43:56
Like, this is the first time we've seen them, with Teresa and Melissa actually on our TVs, you know, getting, i- ...
44:03
TVs.

[footsteps] Ah, ouch.
0:32
This knee is killing me, but I can't stop training.
0:35
The marathon is in two weeks.
0:36
[groans] Let's get on Zocdoc and find a doctor to take a look at that for you.
0:40
Okay.
0:41
Uh, here's a review.

19 MINS LATER

20:02
The original, right.
5:34
just
5:34
feel like scared.
5:35
Like, so when I would go out, um, out and take her for a walk like every day and I lived in like a very very busy area of Los Angeles like little city area so when I would I'd have to walk across a street in order to get to a more neighborly area that had more that was more calmed down where there weren't a lot of cars so there was a one street that I had to walk across at the light and every time I would like literally be having such a panic attack that a car would I just visualize a car coming up and hitting us every time and I would just run across the street as fast as I can.
6:09
I probably looked like a crazy person.
6:11
And then I'd get over there and my heart would be beating so fast and I'd be just really terrified.
6:14
Okay, so that was just like a little thing.
6:16
Okay, not that big of a deal.

12 MINS LATER

18:41
Thanks
3:22
Because so many people have asked, you know, why and what's going
3:26
on? And so...
3:27
Everybody's talking about it.
3:28
Everyone's seeing it.
3:29
And it really is, I think, like the number one documentary on Netflix right now, or at least this week.
3:35
And I was shocked by the end of this because I did not know this story.
3:40
I have to be completely honest with you.

27 MINS LATER

30:24
lawless.
23:22
[laughs]
23:22
I swear to God.
23:23
Like, because he was never going to give her what she kept asking for, and so I just wanna remind everybody that, like, we got here because of what he was doing.
23:39
And, and that doesn't mean that she is obviously, you know, not responsible for the choices that she made.
23:45
She stayed.
23:47
Like, why are you staying in this situation? And I know it gets more complicated because of reality television, and you're looking at the, like, Ariana Sandoval situation, and I feel like those two, when you look at them both, they have very similar structures in that they're both kind of trapped in this brand and this thing, and then they can't really make too big of swings publicly because they gotta lock it down, which is why they end up doing this stuff in secret.
24:12
So because they need to get out in some sort of way, and where are they gonna go? They can't go to public places.

13 MINS LATER

37:19
100%.
6:37
Right.
6:37
And you don't have the money and the resources to, to stop your job for however long the commitment is.
6:44
But I've always wanted to serve because I find that world fascinating.
6:49
Obviously, I think we all do on some level, but when it comes down to it, we just, it's just really inconvenient.
6:54
And as of right now, they had to postpone the full jury selection until Monday morning, so I don't actually know if I'm gonna be on the jury or not.
7:04
I was there all day, and there's a lot of people, a lot of interviewing process, and we should, we shall see.
7:11
So Monday I go back.

47 MINS LATER

53:52
Yeah.
