You've got expert opinion from all of those different spheres, and it's sort of set out in very clear sections, starting with key principles and defining standards for each aspect of paediatric pre-op, doesn't it?

It does.

The guidelines, I have to say, do have a lot of detail in them.

But hopefully the detail is laid out in a kind of easy-to-use, functional fashion.

Um, we've laid them out over nine sections, and we start with the kind of the key principles, the things people need to think about if they're either developing a service or if they're starting one for the first time.

And those principles are that first of all, all children should have a preoperative assessment, that if you're a trust that does paediatric work, that you should have a pre-assessment service, that we should keep in mind that children and young people and their families and their carers need to be at the center of our planning, and that the overall aim of the process should be to deliver that smooth, efficient, and most importantly, safe perioperative journey for the children, the young people, carers, and families.

Um, so they're our key principles, and then having established those, the guidance goes on to talk about how you might design a service, and that's really what the first sections are about.

And, and really lastly, for a center that maybe doesn't have a comprehensive pediatric preoperative assessment service yet or is looking to develop their service, could you share some potential pitfalls or talk us through some top tips, um, for making a service really successful?
