We're quite good at keeping people where we want them to be, people that we're supposed to bring in and be intimate with, partners, husbands, wives, best friends.

We're good at keeping people at a distance and not bringing them in, but we're also, because we're so good at that, we're also good at doing that with God.

You know, I can have relationship with God without having intimate relationship with God.

We can.

I can hear him talk to me.

I can be led and guided by him.

Really excited to be here this morning.

It's one of my favorite days that we would dedicate children.

Because, you know, the thing about parenting, don't switch off if you're not a parent.

This is also for you.

But the thing about parenting is it's the most important thing you'll ever do in your whole life.

It doesn't matter what else you do.

King Saul [laughs] was hunting David to effectively kill him 'cause he thought he was a threat, Jonathan's friendship remained loyal.

Both men had demonstrated extraordinary independent faith before they even met.

Jonathan had single- single-handedly charged a Philistine out- outpost relying entirely on God in 1 Samuel verse 14.

And we know that David, 1 S- yeah, 1 Samuel.

We know that David single-handedly fought Goliath in 1 Samuel 17.

And when they came together, it was a meeting of two spiritual gi- giants operating on the same level, and they had this bond of friendship, this bond that outlasted even Jonathan's life.
