So how has your time in science and government strategy prepared you for what you're shaping now in the AMS?

Amanda StaudtGUEST
This is a, a really dynamic time or volatile time in our, um, enterprise right now.

Amanda StaudtGUEST
Um, and I, you know, to some extent when I was approached about this job and, uh, the role of executive director, I had a feeling of, oh, I've been training for this my whole career.

Amanda StaudtGUEST
Like, this is, this is, uh, a lot of responsibility that I would be stepping into, but also I do feel prepared for it because I've spent my career kind of at that interface of academia and government and, um, private sector and philanthropies and others, and trying to think about how we, um, bring all those pieces together to effect change.

Amanda StaudtGUEST
Um, and so, for example, one of the first projects I did when I went to the National Academy of Sciences back, this study came out in 2004, was on road weather.

But looking ahead, where do you see the AMS heading over the next decade under your leadership?
