What is the MAID program and what exactly is its stated purpose?
12:52
Yeah.
12:53
So MAID, which stands for Medical Assistance in Dying, it's effectively a euthanasia program funded by the Canadian government.
13:00
It started back in 2016 for people whose natural death was, quote, "reasonably foreseeable" and they wanted to end their lives.
13:08
And we've only seen expansion since then, particularly in 2021 when chronic illness and disability became included as reasons for someone to be euthanized.
13:18
Every year since its inception, more and more people have had these procedures.
13:23
Uh, now thousands of Canadians do this annually.
13:46
What exactly are they looking for and how would that work regarding consent for minors?
11:43
Mamdani has long been the favorite of this race, as we've documented, but is his lead slipping somewhat?
11:49
Well, he's up by 10 points right now.
11:51
Andrew Cuomo, who's running as an independent, he was polling behind Mamdani by 20 points, but he recently cut that lead in half to 10 points.
11:59
A Suffolk University poll released Monday shows Mamdani leading Cuomo 44% to 34%.
12:06
Current New York City Mayor Eric Adams, he dropped out of the race and endorsed Cuomo this past Thursday.
12:12
That gave Cuomo a little bit of a boost.
12:14
And there's also the Republican candidate in this race, Curtis Sliwa.

Especially in New York City, you have so many opportunities to make clear the ways in which that struggle over there is tied to capitalist interest over here.

It's an all-female school board and they seemed really enthralled by him.

Now, on this whole DEI beat, the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division on Tuesday, they launched an investigation into Des Moines Public Schools to determine if they're engaging in illegal race-based employment practices.
5:51
The DOJ highlighted the district's website a- and that says that they require their teaching and learning staff to match the student population in terms of demographics and cultural responsivity. The district also apparently set goals to increase its number of teachers of color, that was part of an affirmative action plan, and they said they were prioritizing voices of people of color in addition to other DEI initiatives.
6:16
Now, commenting on this investigation, Harmeet Dhillon, who's the assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division, she tied this into immigration law.
6:25
On X she wrote, quote, "Be on notice.
6:28
If you ignore federal immigration laws, we may investigate you too." Now, another interesting tie in here is that the chair of the Des Moines School Board is Jackie Norris.
6:38
Now, she was chief of staff to former First Lady Michelle Obama back in 2009.
8:28
But was the district mandated to run Roberts through E-Verify?
