9:58
Who would like to come in there, Amanda?
10:00
Yeah, sure.
10:01
I think one of the things, if you just remember a colleague of ours David Sugden used to say, start up in the morning and you get up in the morning, you go to bed at night.
10:10
What doesn't require motor coordination? And I think that's a very good way of thinking about how motor skills are embedded in so many things you do from the moment you get up and you get out of bed and you get dressed and you clean your teeth and you have your breakfast.
10:24
And when we start to think about that, we can see how pervasive it is.
10:27
And how it can impact a child in all areas of their life before, during and after school and in play and in activity, participation, making friends, playing ball skills, those things that are really important.
10:42
Handwriting.

13 MINS LATER

24:09
So I wondered if you wanted to come in here.
8:24
But what questions, you know, do these figures raise about long term treatment patterns and care that's needed? Tap into what Kat was saying, because, you know, specifically for what the needs of women are.
8:37
Well, I think the first thing is we need to raise awareness in clinicians, GPs.
8:43
GPs are often the first port of call to understand what women's symptoms and signs of ADHD are.
8:49
And I think that's really important.
8:50
Kat's experience of having anxiety or depression is not uncommon.
8:55
And in fact, there's good evidence to show that.
8:57
So that's really important that GPs, if you go there, take women's symptoms seriously, understand what they are, but also understand, and I think your point was, just a pill won't sort of solve every ill.
11:37
through meds well wonderfully we've got amanda to kind of answer some of these questions but by the way if people are watching you we are just i'm well personally i'm delighted by your fantastic wallpaper behind you and the combination with that amazing shirt you're wearing is very very good um and so amanda before we do discuss what happens uh when uh you know when women hit um perimenopause and menopause we can't take for granted that everyone knows what we're talking about what is it what is adhd
