Ebony JoyHOST
So Amanda, can you please tell us about the vision for this urban ecovillage for single mothers and maybe share how some of the shared resources reflect solidarity economy values like mutual aid and collective stewardship?

Amanda KingGUEST
And so when I met Heidi and Lisa, they told me about this vision that they have for kind of a Mamun eco-village, these types of communities, matriarchal communities that they've studied and seen in the world, and even just their own personal experiences.

Amanda KingGUEST
Heidi, the other co-founder, when she became a single mother, moved into a duplex, and on the other side of the duplex was another single mother.

Lisa WoodwardGUEST
She has a healing space there for moms, so moms can go there and stay and be healed by the oceans and different holistic practices and the inside of the nature that's there, which is beautiful.

okay so um integrative medicine um as the word suggests it's about bringing together ideas bringing together therapies bringing together paradigms even and i suppose we sort of come from you you've mentioned already about like cultures within families and we have this culture this medical culture and then we also have a kind of other side of things.

Amanda KingGUEST
And I think we're realizing more and more, the more research we do and the more we implement and bring together the technologies and the understandings and the education, the research, we bring it all together.

Amanda KingGUEST
We're starting to really see that this is the way that we can bring the best outcomes to people in all areas is when we know that we've done the reductionistic paradigm we've reduced people down to their little parts and like you know we've reduced people to their lungs or their digestive system or the cancer they've got and they're not a person anymore they're just somebody with cancer you know all of these things where in fact integrated medicine looks at well actually are you just nutritionally deficient as well as having a cancer.

Amanda KingGUEST
Do you experience a life that's full-hearted and have a good community around you or are you isolated? You know, are you in a position where somebody's helping you to get access to deal with trauma or are you having to kind of run around and manage everything and cope and are you in survival mode all the time? And have you got access to the right kind of medicines that are shown to work through things like, for example, some next generation sequencing that we're seeing in some of the technology that's available might say that the kind of chemotherapy that is right for you might not be the one you're on.
