So I have to know, what types of projects will this bond fund if voters do approve it? That's a lot of money, by the way.
13:22
It is a lot of money, um, but we'll get into that, that amount a little bit later.
13:26
Um, all of the projects that are being funded under Proposition A or the bond are capital improvement projects, um, ones that Austin Parks and Recreation have identified as priorities and needs for the city.
13:39
And there's about, like, five different buckets or project types that this bond will go towards.
13:45
There's about 65.5 million that are going towards our park buildings and facilities.
13:50
There's a 29.5 million going towards park land infrastructure improvements like playground repairs.
13:57
Um, 65 million is going to our aquatic facilities.

What is Parks Advocacy all about? Why is there even a need to advocate for parks?
3:31
Yeah.
3:32
Well, I'll just start off with Austin Parks and Recreation is the largest department in our city.
3:39
So we have over 800 staffers that are working so hard for our parks, and that does not include nonprofits like Austin Parks Foundation, where... or conservancies that we have across town that support Austin Parks and Recreation and the work that they do.
3:57
Parks advocacy is a way to voice the concerns and speak for the trees.
4:06
So to say, I, I would say that my role model in this role is the Lorax and the job that we as environmental advocates are called to do is, is to speak for mother nature that doesn't have the voice themselves.
4:21
Right.
