2:36
It actually wasn't at DDW.
2:38
Oh, okay.
2:38
It came out a little before.
2:39
Okay.
2:40
So, but we have to talk about it.
2:41
So it's on the product GI Alley by Dara Therapeutics.
2:45
Some wonderful colleagues have made this.

7 MINS LATER

10:05
right?
3:28
So DDW
3:29
just made a bunch of new announcements.
3:30
What's new? Okay.
3:32
So the big news came out actually one year ago for the treatment for methane, and it's not available commercially yet.
3:38
Oh, shoot.
3:39
I know.
3:40
Is it in Europe? No.

13 MINS LATER

16:20
SIBOinfo.com.
18:00
Okay.
18:01
And okay, now we have s- another really, really exciting thing we were just talking about before we started.
18:05
So we, we talked about some new sort of ... kind of drugs and, um, elemental diet, we have a new herbal antibiotic study, and th- really the first of it- of its kind.
18:15
We've really only had two herbal antibiotic studies for SIBO, I think, ever.
18:20
Um, but now we have another one, and this is on a particular product called GI Ally.
18:26
Um, and what it has in it is it has allicin, neem, and pomegranate, and it's the first study to, to prove or even look at any of these herbs for SIBO.
18:38
So they had very, very good results.

41 MINS LATER

59:14
Yeah, I'm sorry.
19:44
Okay, so next up, we were going to talk about prevention of relapse and
19:49
diet.
19:49
So diet can be done anywhere in the whole treatment journey.
19:53
You can start it right away before you even really know you have SIBO with a test, although I would recommend waiting till after your test.
20:00
But you could do it, you know, while you're waiting for your test results to come back or along with your antimicrobial treatment, or you could wait till after your first round of antimicrobial treatment.
20:12
The point of diet is really for helping symptoms.
20:17
So, you know, if by chance we can, you know, you don't have very high gas levels and you're really maybe only going to need one or two rounds or maybe, you know, elemental diet handles it in one, two week course or something.
24:59
Sadie and I say thank you very much.
5:55
When we're talking about those underlying causes, what's the n- number one underlying cause of impairment for the migrating motor complex?
6:04
It's actually food poisoning Uh, which is a surprise when you first hear about it.
6:09
That's a disease, but it's an acute disease, meaning it's short-lived, um, as opposed to a chronic long-term disease.
6:16
Other names for it would be, like medically, acute gastroenteritis and, in this case, acute bacterial gastroenteritis, and then common other terms we could use would be traveler's diarrhea or stomach flu.
6:30
So there are different causes of these.
6:32
There can be viral, bacterial, parasitic, and the main one we've identified with SIBO is bacterial.
6:37
So not everybody who gets food poisoning will go on to develop SIBO.

15 MINS LATER

21:29
Sadie and I say thank you very much.
