So Ali, can you share a bit about your background, about your senior roles in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics? How did you get to where you've ended up?

I got to where I ended up through somebody recognising something in me that I didn't even realise I had.

And it started back in the UK.

I worked for a company called Roche, a Swiss pharmaceutical and diagnostic organisation.

And I joined them when I was one of my first jobs out of university.

And then I'd been part of the organization in the UK.

I was there actually for 12 years in the UK before I moved overseas.

I'm interested to know how can you express who you are through your words, through a screen? How have you learned to do that with confidence and with clarity and with consistency over time?

Now, was there a pivotal moment in your career, something that happened, a project you undertook, which changed the trajectory of what you were doing?

There's actually two pivotal moments.

The first one is I studied computing at university, and I was an engineer for a Canadian company called Nortel Networks.

And I joined as a graduate, and I worked on, on different projects across the UK, across Europe, and I learnt so much.

And then after two years, I got made redundant.

And I remember being so upset and thinking, "Oh, what am I gonna be?" I wasn't married at the time.

I'm no- nobody's wife, I'm nobody's mum.

So what advice did the public speaking coach give you? How did they make you learn to love public speaking?
