it yeah so it's its technical name is the RCSVET GDP um so graduate development program I think and it has been in place since sort of the summer of 2021.

It seems many years ago now, but I was the recent graduate representative as part of the RCVS working group for graduate outcomes.

And this was something that was brought about because of, I suppose, our attrition rate of graduates within the profession.

I'd never really done much and it sort of set me on a bit of a trajectory, I think, from that.

And it's, as you said, it's trying to reflect on what your needs are and you shouldn't feel that you have failed and that there's no place for you in the profession just because one didn't work out and I think that maybe Alison could reflect on maybe a number of things so one of the things I'd like to know is you know how how do you sort of mentor students initially in picking their first practice you know do you have like a checklist or do you tell them to reflect on what their internal values are and then try and find a practice that matches that and and if so you know what questions do you ask and then Alison you know how many students do you feel do need those few tries because that perfect fit wasn't the first one before they find somewhere that they really you know feel valued and supported and the mentorship is really strong there
