and

make people believe in what you're trying to do.
5:20
So if you're going to run... a sale process for a business you've got eight weeks to get it done you need the employees on board you need the senior execs on board you need the customers to buy into what you do and you need suppliers to stay on side so you know someone said to me once you know part of what we do is half accountancy and half psychology because you're having to really convince people in an end goal of what you're trying to achieve um they've got to trust you that's really important and that's going to help you get the best outcome for everyone so taking those skills when i changed careers in 2023 it was a huge change going from finance and big four and ernst and young at that point into fundraising a complete change of skill set to an extent um but an incredible opportunity.
6:13
And what excited me about it was in my old role, the things that I loved and the things I felt I was good at was the people side.
6:21
So the employees, dealing with customers, dealing with banks, they were the things that I really enjoyed.
6:27
And this gave me an opportunity to be a lot more people-focused and less technical execution.
6:35
So I think how that's translated and the benefits to me have been that managing people, understanding business.

11 MINS LATER

17:35
revenue growing up in an in a bed and breakfast kind of a household and eight kids and then yeah people coming how has your what were the things initially growing up uh have formed your purpose and their values yeah and what are those uh
31:18
Mm.
31:18
But I was, like, disappointed, again, little off.
31:21
So I'm disappointed.
31:21
I was like, "Oh, they, they're not even really looking for me.
31:23
That's terrible." So Drive down.
31:26
So now I basically diverted away from where my getaway route was, just more so out of disappointment.
31:33
So I was like, "Oh, they're not even looking for me.
35:58
Yeah.
23:18
Do you feel like they are the better team? Because it's been so close, razor thin, the whole series, but last night looked like what I thought it would look like the entire series on this one.
23:31
I was just about to say, as crazy as this sounds, and obviously I'm a Carolina homer, but as crazy as this sounds, I really do feel like every game, I feel like we've been the better team.
23:41
The two games that we've lost, I feel like it's been because we've made mistakes, and we haven't been at our best, and not necessarily because...
23:49
Vegas has outplayed us a few years ago playing Florida in the Eastern Conference Finals.
23:56
We would lose some of those games and I would just feel defeated.
24:00
We got nothing for that.
24:02
I don't see a reality where we beat them in any scenario.
25:22
But how about the storyline there, Alex, with the— undrafted 27-year-old rookie coming in and playing instead of the guy who really helped get you here with the way he was playing.
13:29
And and that's how it kind of got started for me.
13:33
And and you're still doing it and all three of you are still doing it.
13:37
But there are so many different types of ways to to guide.
13:41
And, you know, I've I've done a couple different types of guiding myself, but I know that you guys are you all are doing this professionally.
13:51
And some types of tours might be fairly challenging and intense and then some might be a little bit more easygoing.
14:02
But I would love to know from you all, what is your favorite type of environment and and tour structure to do? And those structures can include pelagic birding like this can be a day trip, multi-day trip.
14:17
I have the feeling that that that's going to be a number one for at least some of you here.

28 MINS LATER

42:41
So if you find a guide that has a style of tour or birding experience that you like, then you can stick with them and trust that you're going to have those themes or that kind of core essence of the trip that's the same across multiple destinations, and that's a great thing too.
