Alex Dunn

TV character

Oct 12, 2026

2:58
How, have things changed in that regard since?
3:02
Well, it, it's that stage of the season, isn't it, where you can get a little carried away with, uh, a, a good performance here and there.
3:09
And likewise, you can look at some prices and go, "Well, that's quite reflective.
3:14
It, it's quite a, a jump off the back of one big performance." It may be that there's horses that have been towards the head of the, uh, the, the betting for, for future classics for a little while.
3:24
Currently, as far as the Epic Classics are concerned, if we're looking at the 2000 Guineas, Darkness Falls is now the 7 to 2 market leader, 4 to 1 for Desert Castle, Folsom Blues, 12 to 1.
3:35
Bigger prices the rest.
3:36
And as far as the, uh, Derby picture is concerned for next year, and this is always a market that I think changes so much.
7:41
Alex, what was it like from, um, I suppose, a bookie's perspective, because we did well back favorite in the end, just turn, just changed.
30:25
Where is the money going, though?
30:27
Well, it's interesting because we saw a lot of money from an ante-post point of view for the Gosden horse up at the head of affairs, Gabriel, who's 11 to 2 joint fav now, was as short as seven to two.
30:38
But when the market opened up, that was 33 to 1, uh, when we started betting ante-post once the entries came through.
30:44
So a lot of money throughout the course of the last few weeks on that runner.
30:47
Actually fairly easy to back right now, and he's joint fav with Indalo.
30:52
I would say that it wouldn't be a shock were that drift to continue, and it's certainly one that, despite the fact that we've taken a fair bit already, we are quite keen to lay.
31:01
Um, Erzinjian is one of those that is one of the worst results in the book for us right now, alongside Principality and Spanish Voice.
32:09
Sun Goddess, it looks solid enough in the Cheveley Park in the Marcus, uh, for Newmarket, Alex.
54:39
Is it really?
54:39
No two ways about it.
54:40
25's ante-post, two to one now, so you can do the maths.
54:45
I think there's some pretty nervous traders.
54:46
Um, yeah, just incredibly well backed, and the money just keeps on coming as well.
54:51
So from a, uh, an ante-post point of view, that is the big mover.
54:55
Market opened in June at 25's, um, but still strong at two to one.
59:13
So what price are you going to give me now with the time of recording?
25:22
Ledger, first of all, are you with the Enceladus or Christmas Day or with another horse there, Alex?
25:29
From a personal point of view, I wouldn't want to be with Christmas Day.
25:33
Just my opinion, nine to four is skinny enough.
25:37
As a firm, we've built up quite the liability on Enceladus, I must say.
25:42
25 to one back in June, anti-post.
25:44
That was snaffled.
25:46
And it's been backed and backed and backed at all prices.
27:15
So I suppose Scandinavia is a horse that people would be putting in multiples.
24:31
So what is the race attracting the most money this weekend so far?
24:36
Um... probably the one that's tracking the most money will be the St.
24:40
Ledger in England, uh, over at Doncaster.
24:43
But there are a number of movers throughout the course of the incredible racing that we've got over in Ireland as well that have, have been nibbled at.
24:52
And in some cases a bit more than that.
24:54
So monogram in the national stakes has been really well supported.
24:57
Um, darkness fall as well.
25:34
Are you with the Enceladus or Christmas Day or with another horse there, Alex?
21:01
How are you? What is your overview of the Ebor and what is the market telling us, Alex?
21:08
I think it's maybe lacking a little bit of the quality that we've seen in recent years in races of this nature, where you look and you go, well, that could be a group horse and a handicap.
21:18
I don't think it's chock full of those, but that doesn't make it much easier from a betting point of view.
21:23
Currently, Love Me Tender is 5-1 the Jolly, 11-2 for Class Leader.
21:26
Amit is 13-2, 15-2 for Tarians, and double figure prices for the rest of them.
21:33
The one that I like in the race is Class Leader.
21:35
I thought that performance at York... a couple of starts ago was so so taking and it was a disappointing run at Newmarket last time no two ways about it but I'm always willing to forgive a horse a bad run at that track so the way the class leader went through that York race I don't think this is much stronger it is a stronger race but I don't think it's chock full of quality so that's probably the way that I would go the punters are latching on to a mitt for Joseph O'Brien who makes the journey over Ryan Moore booked as well was actually favourite when the market opened up yesterday eased out and then he's been backed in again so that's the one that we've got our eye on currently available at 13-2 yeah
22:32
Alex, what do you like?
27:37
Will he drift towards even money by the time the off comes tomorrow?
27:42
Yeah, well, this time yesterday, he was twos on, so he's four to six already.
27:46
That's a fair drift in a four-runner race.
27:49
I'd like to see him go and win, but at the same time, last season, the Betfair chase absolutely bottomed the horse, and he wasn't really the same after it.
27:57
It took a long time to recover from that.
27:59
The thing is, this time around in the Betfair chase, he didn't have nearly as hard a race.
28:04
I'd expect him to win, but we've seen quite a bit of cash around already for Spillane's Tower.
31:43
it's funny Alex I think Fred Winter is one of those races I was always a fan getting the trumpet out again but I backed was it Ebba Zine who won it the first year under Nina Carberry but I like the fact that it took a lot of the horses out of the Triumph Dabaroon it was Dabaroon good show Ebba Zine was I think that's right and Ebba Zine was Oliver Brady's horse who was ex John Ox that went to Cheltenham but yeah Alex I like the Fred Winter and I think the Triumphs this year your 4-1 RC so has a lot of talk about him
31:54
People, and certainly on track, people do not want to back odds on shot in win bets.
31:59
No, and that's the thing.
32:00
I think in accumulators, people will want to put one, two, three, whatever, however many of these together, and that's fine.
32:07
But in terms of a one-off race, put it this way, if you presented me with that race, I'd go, well, Elete Tomster likely is winner, certainly, but...
32:15
As a single, I'd probably rather look elsewhere.
32:18
There's only the four runners, so you've not got the breadth of markets that maybe you'd have on a bigger race.
32:25
So, yeah, it's a tricky one, but I actually think all four of them are really intriguing runners, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out.
34:01
It might be a surprise if both of them are beaten.
