I've been listening to you on other podcasts, but for my listeners who maybe don't know you, would you mind sharing a bit of your story with us?

Well, sure.

I'd be happy to.

I was born in the 50s, right? And so I was adopted in the mid-50s.

And I'm sure everybody knows that at that time, adoption was completely closed and firewalled and...

You know, it was impossible to get any kind of information without lawyers and a court order and people used to hire private detectives and all the rest of it.

And so that was my history.

What do you think about it?

Yeah, please go into the kind of what you think that structural problem is that you just said.

Certainly.

So speaking about my industry particularly, I mean, I would love to be able to discourse on nuclear or other, you know, sustainable energies and whatnot.

It's just not my domain.

So I'm going to stick with materials.

The first problem, and this is going to upset some people, so prepare yourself for angry comments, but...

Scientific leadership is not business leadership.

What do you think is a better way of doing business when it comes to climate hard tech?

That's fair.

It's like I feel like this is a weight that I've been carrying around for so long, I didn't-- I've forgotten I was even carrying it.

I didn't even notice.

And all of a sudden, here it is.

It's like, it's like this weight has just been taken off my shoulders, and now I know.

I know the story.

[laughs] I know what happened.

Did any of those complex emotions come into play? Because I feel like it can't all be sunshine and rainbows, or maybe it can, but for me it feels like it might be a little bit more complex.
