So when did you start writing these pieces?

So from 2023 to 2025, I was at the Herbie Hancock Institute.

which is out at UCLA.

And so I was very focused on just composing and working and I just spent a lot of time writing.

And then I started to immerse myself into the Los Angeles music scene.

I made a lot of wonderful connections and friends.

And there's some amazing musicians out there with some really distinct voices.

I'm interested in why you chose that to be the first single.

Like, are there people that are more comfortable in one context or the other? Or is it, like, you need people who can do both, or...?

Yeah.

Ideally, yes, you need people that can do both.

It's kind of a problem in modern jazz music in particular, is that at this point, the music has been so influenced by so many genres, and it comes from so many directions.

You kinda have to play a lot of different styles in a lot of different bands.

And the, because, you know, you have to understand the language.

And it's really interesting to me how that has kind of evolved, where it really requires a lot now.

What is the role of place for you, and, and how do you think the music comes out differently?
