What did you find when you were a, a young detective on that particular murder investigation for Limbs in the Loch that you found was the biggest kind of pivot to what you thought it was gonna be, and what it was, and why that was a good thing?
56:25
I think that came in, uh, two stages for me because when I joined the police initially as a, as a probationer in uniform, I think you have a notion of what the police will be like.
56:35
Uh, and it'll be running about 100 miles an hour, and there'll be blue lights flashing and sirens going and, uh, doing forward rolls over the bonnets of cars and things like Starsky & Hutch.
56:46
And actually, 90% of the time was, uh, paperwork and doing mundane chores.
56:53
And to be honest, the 10% of the time that was the thrill of the chase and everything else m- was so good that that made the 90% of the, of the other sort of bad side of the job, if you like, uh, it made it worthwhile.
57:07
And it was exactly the same in the detective world.
57:10
I think you, you get to the point where you're thinking, "Oh, I, I, I, I'm a, a, a murder detective." [laughs] Uh, and people think that that comes with, uh, probably watching too much American TV.
