What's something that, as an intern, you had a concept of but turned out to be completely different or that you've changed your mind about?

That's a good question.

I think, I think early on intern year, um, something that I had questions on or something that I thought that was very important and necessary at the time was, like, procedures and doing well on those.

And I always thought that, like, your procedural competence related to, like, your intelligence, and if you didn't get the IV or you didn't get the airway perfectly or your line didn't go completely according to plan, you thought the entire case was a disaster.

Um, and in the grand scheme of things, like, your attending or your senior resident probably doesn't even remember that because it's the first couple minutes of the case, and then you just go ahead and did this bigger case or any case that went completely according to plan.

But all you could fixate on is this one little aspect of the case didn't go well.

And early on, I was pretty hard on myself, I feel like, to be perfect when it came to that, which, I mean, no one will be.

Lastly, can you tell me about your style points or points of personal preference that have brought you success in and out of the operating room?
