The original 1981 date, drawn from secondary sources without primary documentation, had stood unchallenged throughout her entire state house service.

That one-year shift is decisive for her citizenship narrative because a 1981 birth date would have made her 18 or 19 in 2000, and ineligible for automatic citizenship as a minor under the rules that were then in effect.
