So are current competency-based models still fit for purpose, or are they limiting how pilots develop capability?

I went round on my Churchill Fellowship to look at competency-based models and see what people do with competency-based training, and the first thing I'm going to say is, if we're ever going to do it, I call it my, um, purple banana theory, is you're going to listen to me now because I'm going to tell you about my purple banana theory.

But if I'm going to tell you about my competency-based theory, you've all got a theory already in your mind about what it is.

So what you do in competencies training, Malcolm, I'm sure what you do, what you do, are all different.

From my perspective, it's definitely limiting because we could definitely do it better.

We could harmonize it.

So what happens, even if we look at the competencies that we're actually using, you know, the eight ICAO competencies that you use are not the competencies that I use.
