Share your story with how and why you got into climbing.
1:14
So yeah, my origin story is kind of, I kind of forgot the true origin.
1:20
So I kind of just am making this shit up as I go, you know.
1:25
I'm pretty sure it was, I don't know if it was before COVID or right after it.
1:29
A buddy of mine was just like, yo, let's go climbing at this gym.
1:33
I was like, cool.
1:35
So we went.

17 MINS LATER

18:33
How did you manage those five-hour sessions, and what would you do, and what would they feel like?

What is the state of the fleet at the moment and what are your thoughts on the recent inquiry into the FENS fleet?
40:20
Yeah, so that government select committee inquiry has pretty much exposed what we thought it would.
40:26
I think the New Zealand public is now well aware of the shambles that our fleet is in our career districts across New Zealand.
40:37
At the moment we have Fire and Emergency basically bragging to the public that they're about to spend $24 million a year over the next few years on fleet.
40:48
The truth is just to break even we need to be spending close to $40 million a year.
40:54
So even with the figures they're bragging about we're going backwards at a huge rate of knots.
41:00
So something's got to change and quickly because it's literally falling apart our fleet.

What are your thoughts on those and are you hopeful that we'll see positive change with the next election?

What are your thoughts on those and are you hopeful that we'll see positive change with the next election?
3:54
Yeah, I am really hopeful that there will be, because of election time, that the parties will get on board and try and get this resolved.
7:31
Love that
7:31
... can kinda, uh, focus on, uh, for the week.
7:34
And, and it, and, and gives a kind of a connection point throughout the week when I see folks.
7:38
Um, and, and so that's, that's been an easy way I can just take the iPhone, uh, and do something like that.
7:44
And then also from a, like a, a recruiting perspective, and I was mentioning to you, is like, uh, you know, I'll get two or three or four names of, of maybe some top prospects for the week-
11:28
Mm
11:28
... uh, with very specific, uh, requests.
11:31
This year, something that we're doing new that we've not done before is, uh, we've asked every employee to take at least 10 minutes a day during their workday to just stop and pray for, uh, your students, pray for DBU, pray for your colleagues.
10:22
Right.
10:22
But, um, what later became Americana.
10:25
And, uh, Shannon always maintained, even then I found an in- a newspaper clipping from our old Atlanta band of her, uh, someone asking what kind of music we made and she said, "Americana," and I said, "I don't know what that is." Uh, but it turns out that's like what we were.
10:40
But-
13:19
Yeah.
13:19
Um, and some of them are worthwhile and some of them, you know, are dispensable, I think, depending on the song.
13:25
But like they do sort of give it that professionalism and like, you know, and also a redundancy.
13:32
Like, you know, a lot of the songs, um, are built the same because-
