They don't believe that they have to be accountable to the press or the American people, and we've seen that in a thousand different examples, and that is the most troubling thing of all.

We'll see if the courts agree with you.

I mean, the Squad, uh, and some of that energy in the party, there's no doubt we give them a lot of oxygen.

We, we hear from them a lot, but the chairs of all the committees, Adam Smith from Washington, who would chair the Armed Services Committee, is no DSAer.

Jamie Raskin, uh, you won't find a greater support of Israel in the United States Congress than Jamie Raskin, who would chair the Judiciary Committee.

So there's no doubt.

We are continuing to follow news out of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where President Trump earlier today told world leaders that he'll either come to a deal with Iran after the midterm elections, or he will quote unquote annihilate the country.

That, as new CNN polling shows, that only 36% of Americans believe that the United States is winning the war, and 69% believe that long-term conflict with Tehran is likely.

Joining me now is the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Adam Smith of Washington.

Congressman, thank you so much for being here.

And these two points have to be clarified.

And that is why, actually, I would say that one of the biggest forms of service that we have performed, you know, myself and my fellow revolutionary socialists, by running this campaign in the primary election against genocidal Democrat Adam Smith, is to provide a point of departure, you know, that what is needed is is not the DSA strategy.

We know the DSA electors are pointing back into the Democratic Party and deal-making with the Democratic Party leaders.

In fact, that is the wrong kind of education.

And there are 14 Democrats who voted for the Patriot Act and are still in the House.

They are Sanford Bishop of Georgia, James Clyburn of South Carolina, Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, Rick Larson of Washington, Zoe Lofgren of California, Betty McCollum of Minnesota, Gregory Meeks of New York, Richie Neal of Massachusetts, Frank Pallone of New Jersey, Brad Sherman of California, Mike Simpson of Idaho, Adam Smith of Washington, and Mike Thompson of California.

And every one of these people voted for the authorization for the use of military force as well.

It's been 25 years.

Yeah, well, I mean, there's two very good answers to that question, Katie.

Number one is if Democrats are chairman of committees, you know, Jamie Raskin is chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

If I happen to be chairman of the Intelligence Committee, Adam Smith at Armed Services, we have subpoena power, right? And subpoena power means you show up and you testify.

And while I anticipate, because I've seen this movie before, that Trump administration officials will do all they can to avoid attending, I would say two things.

Number one, talk to Peter Navarro, who was convicted of contempt of Congress when he refused to answer a congressional subpoena and ask him if he enjoyed that experience and whether you think Donald Trump is going to be there to pardon you.

My next source tonight is the ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, Democratic Congressman Adam Smith of Washington.

Congressman, I got a lot I wanna talk to you about, but given this breaking news from the Supreme Court telling the president no on his push to try to limit and change mail-in voting in time for the midterm elections, what's your reaction to what you're hearing from the Court tonight?

Well, I mean, in the pre- your previous guest's legal analysis is spot on.

Uh, but that doesn't mean we can't have informed opinions about it and listen to the people who do understand it a- a- and rein it in.

Um, so yeah, I mean, Trump, I mean, what- whatever he says, it's not coming from a place of knowledge, let's put it that way.
