83, 1983.

And so the whole idea with understanding and teaching stand dynamics is understanding how forests respond to disturbance and develop through time.
32:56
with the idea that if you understand how forests develop through time, we can design silviculture treatments to guide stands to meet whatever management objective we would like within biological reality.
33:15
And so the Dr. Clatterbuck's study was out at Noxaby, sort of asking the question like, well, we've got these really nice cherry bark oak out at Noxaby.
33:31
How did they get there? And then the follow-up question is, how do we grow those really nice cherry bark oak, maybe commercially? And so they went in and did what we call stem analysis.
33:47
And so stem analysis involves cutting down trees and then sectioning them up at fixed heights and then dating them at those fixed heights.
34:00
And so what that allows us to do is go back in time and not only reconstruct age, but also height.

I like this.
31:57
But if you would, kind of give a little bit of background on that study and some of the findings along the way and what we're about to try to do there.
32:07
Yeah, absolutely.
32:09
So this is super exciting.
32:12
Mm-hmm.
32:13
So this all goes back to work from John Hodges and Wayne Clatterbuck as part of his PhD, looking at stand development.
32:23
The whole idea with- 84? Yeah, 83, I think.
32:29
83, not 93.
