Now, I'm not saying it didn't expose me to, you know, harm's way or I didn't have to deal with cover or whatever, but I got to play with the piece if I wanted, if that was my... my goal that turn, or if I had a mission or something that required me to move out.
15:02
So what's really changed here for our larger pieces is that it's easier to get cover on them.
15:08
It's actually much easier to get cover on a Dawn or stuff like that.
15:10
And that cover, in my opinion, is more relevant than the plus one save was previously.
15:15
If someone was trying to kill your Dawn, Stormlord, Catan, they weren't shooting strength 4 AP nothings at you.
15:22
They were hitting you with multi-melters, las cannons, those kind of...
15:25
So the plus one save rarely became a thing anyway in so many examples.
18:19
come to roost it's like oh i've got finally i got it right oh six great
27:35
okay
27:36
and paladin because i'm i love the palette and the paladin's my boy and then the three warglaives i'm still taking my rogue trader entourage and breacher unit and i'm taking a subductor squad as well to sit the backfield and so an analysis that i've come to so far i mean what i said about people needing to throw out you know three or four pieces um early in the game that's my destries the modestries are both daka they deploy on the line they free pivot when they move and they gain you know a couple of inches of extra movement i sp i push the button one cp they get plus three inches of movement and then they go and try and pick up all your utility pieces on turn one As in like all your cult, all your little units of spawn, all your, you know, jackals and all the little nonsense units that you want to use turn ones, turns two and turns three to score your points.
28:22
And I just send out two Destriers and I try and destroy the crap out of all of them.
28:26
And Destriers hitting on twos is the most likely thing to happen if you're shooting at a target within 12.
28:32
These Destriers move like 24 inches.
28:34
They pivot for an extra couple of inches of movement, they move 12 plus D3, so we're up to 15 plus what the pivot gave you, so let's just say 17.
28:41
Then they advance and get it up to another 6 there, so they're going to go 23, and then they're going to shoot.

25 MINS LATER

53:51
What's the best way for us to work around this weakness?
3:59
You know,
4:00
I straight up think we've got like a good year before we figure out exactly what's, you know, purge versus priority assets is better than, you know, purge versus this and that.
4:09
What's going to be really cool is that you as the player are going to be able to identify very easily which dispositions you're strong to against and weak against and, you know, have the reflection and use your generalship to try and bridge any gaps on face value.
4:25
I have an interesting time analyzing the different dispositions.
4:29
We should probably let everybody know, every army, every faction has access to all of them.
4:33
They've just decided to make sure that everybody has access to every single one of them.
4:36
Your detachment, for people who don't know, or just joining the piece now, your detachment will tell you which disposition is set for that detachment.

29 MINS LATER

33:22
for everybody and probably even make the game more accessible to maybe brand new players.
6:01
It's like your whole unit is not hidden just because some models are, which could still put you in weird situations to where you wasn't, you are not as safe as you think you are on the tabletop.
6:12
Yeah, hidden's a weird one because, uh, when I first heard about it, and of course, uh, some of us get, uh, things ear- get notice about things a little bit earlier, I was like, "Oh my God, that's insane.
6:21
That cannot exist in this game.
6:23
That's gonna break it." Uh, and then the more I sat with it, the more I c- and then the m- the more I figured out, the more I unpacked things, and then the last thing that really did it for me was the terrain.
6:32
Um, if you wanna be hidden, you have to have every model on terrain.
6:37
Now, the size of the terrain pieces and the fact that things could tow on and shoot you now means that if you're on the terrain, a la the objectives, you can be seen.
6:46
So you're hidden, but there is a cost.
11:02
Chimeras.
31:42
The, the pie plates, you know, the-
31:43
So what happened was, uh, we as the players and the consumers and the customers of the game, we prioritized over, over many editions and many years, we prioritized the play experience over the narrative experience, and they became divergent.
31:57
In fact, we got Crusade and stuff like that to properly diverge for people who wanted to go just exactly that flavor is what they like on their meal, and exactly this flavor is what they like on their meal.
32:07
We're playing with the same ingredients, more like we're just chucking different condiments or sauces on.
32:10
Uh, uh, but there is no reason for that to always be the case.
32:14
There's no reason that more of this can't bleed over here and vice versa, and they can't become closer together while still having distinct flavors.
32:20
And so, uh, to, to your ...
34:47
Mm-hmm.
