Growing up, I was just like, me, I'm not going to go to school.

So I told myself when I was nine, you know, my mom used to sell what we call in Liberia, Pepe Cala.

My mom, when she would buy the newspapers and all of that, you know, to put the paper cut and don't know anything, I would take those papers and I would read.

I would try to read.

I would go to people in the community and be like, what does this letter mean? I would do that.

So by the time I was five, six, seven, I could read fluently.
