So my first question always when I read something about climate is where does the story start? And your story starts in 1988 with Hansen.

Well, it almost starts a little bit later than that, actually.

I kind of feel like I'm more interested in where he went to later.

So there's a scene that I start the thesis with where about 2006 or seven, I think it is.

So but James Hudson was one of the first climate scientists in who really spoke out and tried to warn the public in a very emphatic way.

And so famously, there was a congressional hearing in the United States in 1988, where he was the first climate scientist who kind of concretely said we are seeing the effects of climate change right now playing out and we can detect it uh already uh and that was you know i was two years old at the time so it's a long time ago um and um He then proceeded to continue to work as a NASA scientist.

He was the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, so one of the most senior climate scientists in the country at the time.

How has it been for you doing this research for four or five years, speaking to, you know, your colleagues that are maybe going through some of the things you've been going through?
