So tell me, what's the history of the company? How did you get involved? What is Gobi?

Well, Gobi was founded back in the 70s by Gary Gobi.

He was a family practice doctor in a small town called Albany, which is about an hour and a half south of Portland.

And one of his hobbies at the time was building these antique muzzleloader rifles, these reproduction rifles from the 1800s.

And they required five foot long stocks on these rifles, which was hard to find.

Gary started cutting his own from local trees.

And in that process, he found that our Western walnut was way prettier, more beautiful than the stuff you'd find back East.
