Your law firm can generate millions in revenue and still leave you feeling broke, overworked, and blind to what is actually happening inside the business. Most law firm owners know what they want to…
The game is fundamentally the law that you practice, the service that you offer.
The players are the lawyers and non-lawyers in the firm that provide the services or serve the clients or the prospects.
And then of course, the coach is the one who leads the entire team, the four basic fundamental pipelines.
And so if you either are the CEO now, or you're going to be the CEO, you need a CEO dashboard.
First learned this from my grandfather, who said, Richie, you know, in business, there are three things you could be sure of.
There's what you think is happening and then there's what is actually happening.
And the goal is to get what you want to be happening as closest to what is actually happening as possible.
And so how do you ensure that you can have what you want to happen actually happen? And the answer is through a scorecard.
And as a coach, it's vital you have a scorecard so you can see what is actually happening.
Now, the question is, what should that scorecard be made of? Well, again, if we think about this through the pipelines, you have the new client attraction pipeline, you have the workflow pipeline, you have the profit pipeline, and you have the talent pipeline.
This is for you as the owner slash CEO, how well you're taking care of yourself.
And you should have a scorecard for all of these pipelines for you to be able to see, And your team should be responsible for different sections of the scorecard so that when you meet with your team every single week, you'll be able to look at what's actually happening on their department.
Now, if you're a keep it small, keep it all firm, right? and just you and two or three or four employees, you might think this is a little bit of an overkill.
And honestly, you might be right, but you should still have this scorecard and you might have to do some of the filling of this out or your executive assistant might have to help you fill this out.
Like if you're in level two, if you're at level three and you don't have a scorecard, you're not running at its optimum.
It's probably why you don't feel like you have the freedom that you should have.
And if you're trying to move from the CEO level to the investor level, the things that got you to the $5 million level aren't going to get you to the $10 million level.
