It's a term that hasn't been really kicked around that commonly, and there's a lot of things that are coming to the forefront in these days that haven't been really addressed much.

A lot of people understand fiber is important, but resistant starch is different than just fiber.

Resistant starch is starches that either will bind to fiber so they pass through the gut, or they are fiber in one form and starch in another.

So fiber and resistant starch are extremely important in your diet for a lot of different reasons.

It's in your colon where all the critical decisions happen about your toxins, whether you can excrete them or recycle them.

That's decided in the colon, and that's the bacteria inside of the colon, the microbiota in the colon, more correctly, 'cause there's more than just bacteria there, that decides whether we're going to excrete our toxins or recycle them.

And the primary food for those microbes in the colon is fiber and resistant starch.
