Let's get started.
Hey lovely listener, welcome back to the podcast.
Today I want to talk about something that's been sitting on my heart for a while now, and honestly, once I noticed it, it was really hard to unnotice it.
It's one of those tiny everyday moments that seem so normal, but when you really stop and think about it, it reveals a bit of a double standard that for so many of us, myself included, fall into without even realising it.
And it's this.
How often do we say to our children, just a minute, I'll be there in a sec, I've just got to finish this.
Give me a moment.
We say it all the time.
And usually we say it because we genuinely are doing something important.
We're making dinner, replying to messages, folding washing, paying bills, trying to drink a coffee while it's still warm for once.
We're busy.
And I think most parents are living in this constant state of task switching and mental load where we feel like we're just being pulled in a thousand directions at once.
