179 – Make your brand stand out

Yeah, I look forward to that.

think that's going

to be my Sunday afternoon.

I'm going to sit in the garden a bit.

And I'm looking at the paper that

we've got here now.

And you said about lots of small businesses are advertising.

And that's true.

I can see a page there.

And I turn over the page and you've got a massive advert from Intuit, MailChimp, which is obviously a massive company.

Yeah.

That must be an achievement, getting a big company to believe in your product.

Yeah, I mean, my very first job when I straight out of school, I was about 17 or 18.

I worked for Trinity Mirrors, who own the Scotsman and the Daily Mirror and the Metro and all sorts of newspapers.

I was desperate as an English lit student.

I was desperate to be a journalist, but I got stuck in the advertising department.

and let me tell you how cutthroat selling advertising is.

And to be honest, I was terrible at it.

I sucked.

So I didn't last very long in that job.

So it is an achievement to get someone like MailChimp and Canva did their very first advertisement, print advertisement, because Canva only do digital.

Yeah, I was going to say Canva don't really do print advertising at all.

It was their first one.

So I'm really proud to have their first advertisement in Brand Cult.
