Surviving The Purge (2013): Busted Security Systems & Last-Minute Lockdowns

So this movie, I think you already said this, but it was released in 2013 and it was directed by James, James DeMonaco.

Um, And it basically is like this dystopian concept, right? Except we're not doing like zombie dystopia.

I mean,

it's based in everyday society where we have a new founding fathers.

New founding fathers of America that have sanctioned the annual 12-hour window where all crime, including murder, is entirely legal.

So my question, so society had to fall.

So then they got together and said, okay, since the United States didn't work out, we're going to have new founding fathers.

And I think they do allude to this in the very first one, but it's to, I mean, get rid of poor people and...

Yeah.

It's because if you have a certain status, you're immune from the purge.

Yeah.

They're

not allowed to be part of it.

People with government clearances or class 10 or higher are immune from the purge.

And if you think about it, the entire premise of this movie is we've got the Sandin family who are very wealthy and he sells security systems and has made a fortune off of the security systems because of the purge.

And if you've got a very fancy security system, it's probably more likely you would make it through the purge even if somebody wanted to harm you, right?

Right.

But if

you don't have the money for this security system, guess what? That means you're more likely to be a victim of the purge.

That's why it all comes back to the poor people.

I think they are.
