Contemplative Practice
Go ahead and do whatever you need to do to get comfortable.
You might sit up a little straighter, adjust yourself in your seat until you feel right.
You might pause for a moment here and take a walk for a moment if you have to loosen up or get yourself into a position where you feel like you're ready to continue.
You might scan your body to see what feels tense or tight and take a few deep breaths to try and relax.
And during our time, it's okay to shift, to do whatever you need to do to tend to yourself.
It's not a contest of who can move the least.
As you settle and once you're settled, allow the breath to flow through you, to enrich you, to refresh you, to calm you, and similarly to carry away some of what is pulling you away.
Busy thoughts, lists of things to do, worries, anything that draws your attention elsewhere.
Breathe in a freshness and a calming presence and breathe out all that other busy stuff.
And do that as many times as you need.
Breathe in peace, love, joy, hope, presence, assurance.
Breathe out tension, worry, distraction, resistance, trouble.
Again, as many times as it takes.
There's no rush.
Maybe all you'll do today is that.
All we're trying to do is make room for a deeper voice to emerge.
