Contemplative Practice for Soulful Living
As the name suggests, simply list that for which you're grateful.
If you need help or you're not feeling very grateful, start small.
I mean really small.
Items such as my hands, even my fingernails.
the breath of air I just took, my shirt, the ability to see even if it requires glasses, ah, my glasses or my contacts, my hearing or my hearing aids, the smell of a flower.
As you write, just let it flow.
No need to judge or analyze and write as long as you feel like you need or like you can.
you can hit pause while you finish to do so now and come back when you're ready.
Doing this is a way of tuning the soul to the goodness we often overlook, the goodness that's there if only to buoy us to confront what may be harder at other times.
When you can honor the support of a chair or of your own back It's easier to envision the support of loved ones and the great one, the great author of love.
So make it a practice to dwell in gratitude.
Let it fill your cup with enough that you start to spill it all over and water the world.
