Monroeville at St. Paul - 09 15 2026

Good evening and welcome to the Father Harvey Keller Gymnasium inside the Convocation Center at St. Paul High School.

On one side a sea of black, the other an ocean of red as a rivalry is renewed tonight for the first time in the 2026 season on the Stein, Olsen, and Stang CPAs High School Volleyball Match of the Week.

It's St. Paul hosting Monroeville with a Firelands Conference supremacy on the line tonight as well as multiple streaks going back the last few seasons with these two clubs.

Thanks for joining us tonight.

I'm Chris Morgan alongside Josh Bowman.

And boy, the first time this season, Josh, finally getting the big showdown between the Eagles and Flyers.

Yeah, here we are, both teams 4-0 in the Firelands Conference.

St. Paul on beating

6-0 right now, 6-3.

For Monroeville, and these are the two programs around here.

When it comes to small school volleyball, these two teams have been the dominant teams in the area for I don't know how long.

So dominant, in fact, that Monroeville coming off four straight Firelands Conference championships outright, might I add, over the last four seasons.

And the last time St. Paul has gotten a win in this matchup.

You have to go all the way back to October 14th, 2021.

St. Paul took both regular season meetings that season before the Eagles won in straight sets in the district semifinal en route to the Final Four, losing to St. Henry 3-1 down in Dayton that season.

And ever since, it has been all Monroeville whenever these two have met up.

Yeah, it has been.

Monroeville, though, this year, you know, they've lost some talent.

But as they say, they don't rebuild, they reload.

And that's what Monroeville does.

And I'm looking for maybe a four or five setter here tonight.

I don't know.

Flip a coin to see who you think has the advantage in this one.

The JVs went the full three sets.

And that was a match where almost no lead was safe for the first two and a half sets of that matchup.
