Huron vs. Notre Dame Academy - 09 05 2026

Welcome back here to Cedar Point Sports Center.

A special K96 high school volleyball here on broadcast here today.

And the Lady Tigers 2-1 against Notre Dame Academy 2-3 on the season.

And looking at the season stat leaders for Huron.

No surprise, Maya Smith right up there up top, 35 kills on the season.

Jada Foster with 24, Mike.

Yeah, they're pretty versatile in where they can go to offensively with those two on the attack.

And it's all set up, though, with the serve-receive and good passing.

You have Reese Otts, who's a really good setter as well.

And she's got some height to her, too, so she helps with that block along the net.

as well but again that's that junior class they've played a lot coming up through the system they're all multi-sport athletes as well and it i'm just excited to have some huron volleyball on k96 we were already had volleyball coverage on our sister station 92.9 wlkr classic and uh k96 city of license is huron so it only made sense to start carrying a little bit of volleyball we got a chance to dip our toe into it last year at edison high school when they did the fundraiser in cammy moon's name and it it went well so now we'll have a a couple more broadcasts of here on coming up and hopefully some tournament action down the road as well

yes expect this team definitely to make some noise when it comes to the postseason our next here on volleyball broadcast will also be at two o'clock on a saturday afternoon against gilmore academy it's a As Coach Wood this morning talked to me on the locker room, he said part of their academy tours.

They're taking on a lot of these private school academies.

Yeah, like I said, he's always scheduled a very tough non-conference schedule.

As a matter of fact, they've played Independence the one year three times in like 360 days because they played them regular season, state championship match in 2020, and then back again in 2021 they played them So they've never shied away from these tough matchups, and they've got availability now for a lot of non-conference games because you look at the Northern Ohio Conference, they just have four league opponents.

So that's eight teams plus your crossovers, another five.

It gives you 13 games, which gives you a lot of room for non-conference games.

Yeah, it definitely does.

Looking at the other matches for Huron this year, we mentioned that win over Clyde here on Thursday night.

They also defeated Sandusky earlier on 3-0.

And their loss on the air is to Notre Dame Cathedral Latin out of Chardon, Ohio, 3-1 in that one.

And that tough competition, you look at that, and that's why Huron is as good as they are, for sure.

Yeah, and they're going to play every Notre Dame known to man, apparently.

They've got the Fighting Irish coming

up.
